LESSON -12 Electricity and circuits
1. Conductors: Materials that allow electric current to pass through them.
2. Insulators: Materials that do not allow electric current to pass through them.
3. Examples of conductors: Iron, copper, Aluminium etc.
4. Examples of insulators: Wood , Plastic, and rubber etc.
5. Source of electricity: Electric cell is a source of electricity.
6. Serminals are there in electric cell: There are two terminals in the electric cell, positive (+ Ve) and negative (-ve).
7. Electric cell produce electricity: An electric cell produces electricity from the chemicals stored inside it.
8. Electric cells are used: Electric cells are also used in alarm clocks, wristwatches, transistor radios, cameras and many other devices.
9. Filament of bulb: The thin wire that gives off light is called the filament of the bulb.
10. Terminals of cell is joined together: The chemicals in the electric cell get used up very fast and the cell stops working.
11. Electrician use rubber gloves: Rubber gloves are insulators which do not allow to pass electric current through themselves. So protect from electric shock an electrician uses rubber gloves.
12. Purpose of using an electric switch: The switches used in lighting of electric bulbs and other devices in homes work on the same principle although their designs are more complex.
13. Switch: A switch is a simple device that either breaks the circuit or completes it.
Electric circuit: A close and curve path of electric current is called an electric circuit.
14. Regions electric circuit: Regions electric circuit:-
- The bulb may be fused.
- Battery may be discharged.
- Circuit may be made of insulator.
- Switch may be disconnected/off.
15. Bulb to fuse: One reason for a bulb to fuse is a break in its filament.
16. Switches are used: Torch, Radio, Television, table fan.
